Now Open: Thailand’s first mega-luxury mall


Bangkok, Thailand is known to many as a shopping district in Southeast Asia but the country is taking it a step further with the unveiling of the 1.8 Billion Baht ($554 Million) Central Embassy. According to theaustralian.com.au:

Bangkok already has a few upscale fashion malls, but the Embassy is being billed as Thailand’s first full-scale luxury mall. Around 30 per cent of the centre’s brand name labels — Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, Saint Laurent and Pomellato jewellers — are opening their first stores in the country, much to the delight of designer-loving locals and tourists.

Central Embassy Mall was supposed to be launched last March but it was not until May 9 that it was opened. Although surrounded by controversy and protest, the opening of Central Embassy is seen to change the landscape of the area, with such luxury brands foreseen to draw big spenders in.
