The Waldorf Astoria blends Oriental design with contemporary luxury for its hotel opening on March 1 in Beijing, China.

The 12-story building combines Oriental design with modern aesthetics. It was designed by Canadian Yabu Pushelberg and built by Chicago-based Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture. The Waldorf Astria hints at the Chinese architecture though the use of bronze in walls and windows and a nod to Chinese artists with pieces of art from Luo Xiaodong, Ling Jian and Shao Fan.

The Waldorf Astoria Hotel Beijing has 176 rooms equipped with Samsung tablets, Apple TV, Ferragamo design and feather-top beds with linen. A unique feature of the hotel is the “Hutong” or traditional detached villas which will not be completed until second half of the year. The two-story villa has a traditiona; 200-year old exterior but is equipped with modern design, gold-gilded corridors and signature Waldorf bed and comforts. The presidential villa even comes with a private swimming pool.
