The Bugatti belt buckle costs more than a Corvette and Mustang combined
Wondering what to get that car aficionado in your life? Well, if your guy (or gal) loves the Bugatti, there is one item that they will surely love as well. The only catch is that this luxury piece costs more than the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray and the Ford Mustang combined. You read that right. The Bugatti belt buckle is so extravagant, it costs 75,000 Swiss Francs or roughly $84,000.
According to forbes.com:
Buyers of elite sports cars like those from Bugatti have far less humble options for professing their loyalty. Among them is a belt buckle from Roland Iten, which sells for a lot more than you’d have to put a new Corvette and Mustang in your garage.
Roland Iten has a boutique based in Geneva, where the luxurious belt buckles of gold and titanium are released. Iten made three versions of the “Calibre R22 Mark I Bugatti Edition“, totaling only 44 pieces. The first series and second series, white gold and rose gold editions respectively, were both only 11 pieces each model.
The Roland Iten belt buckles are pricey for good reason. Aside from the 100 handcrafted components made of top of the line stainless steel, solid gold and titanium, the Bugatti belt buckles also have the following features:
- smoked sapphire crystals in front, providing a view of the internal mechanics
- mechanically adjustable, follows the exact fit of the waist (with a lever that adjusts up to millimeters)
- 62 grams of 18-carat white and 5N rose gold
- Côtes de Genève motif
- 2 TW VVS+ diamond for the pin
The laborious process of making one series of Bugatti belt buckles takes about nine months, with components fitted in by the most skilled of Swiss watchmakers. The third edition is yet to be released in 2014, with just 22 pieces to be made. The expected price for the latest edition is around the range of $53,700 to $64,900.
