Vincent Viola’s Upper East Side mansion for sale at $144M

Upper East Side is no stranger to the life of luxury. And this month, one of the most expensive houses in the entire NYC was opened up to the real estate market for $144M.

According to www.nydailynews.com:

It’s the biggest Christmas present in the city, with a price tag to match.

A 40-foot-wide mansion, one of the largest homes in the city, is on the market for a whopping $114 million — or half the price its owner, Wall Street investor Vincent Viola, spent to buy the Florida Panthers hockey team earlier this year.

The front of the Viola’s 1884 limestone residence at 12 E. 69th St. is decorated with a giant red bow and a “Merry Christmas” tag, making it a total head-turner. The asking price for the home is set to break the 2006 record set by The Harkness Mansion at  4 E. 75th St., a 36-footer which sold for $53 million.

The Violas purchased the home in 2005 for just $20M. So what makes it worth $114M this time around? Check out the details of the opulent mansion that was created by Vincent and Theresa Viola through the help of Maida Vale Design:
