A peek at Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s French chateau in LA
For Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, a dream home is something that is lavish in a different way.
It was all about comfort, simplicity, and environmental friendliness.
According to abcnews.go.com:
When Gisele Bundchen and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady found an open lot in Los Angeles with views of the Pacific Ocean in 2009, they instantly knew that they wanted to live there. “It was important for us to plant roots for our family, and since we both enjoy the creative process, we decided to start from scratch,” the NFL quarterback, 36, tells Architectural Digest in its October issue.
With the help of architect Richard Landry and interior designer Joan Behnke, the “French chateau via the Pacific Coast Highway” was built from the ground up. The 14,000-square-foot acid-washed limestone mansion does not have pompous details but picturesque views instead. There is a plebian driveway over a pond, a stone bridge over a koi-stocked moat and an unassuming pool that was made to look like a natural lake.
With Gisele being a global ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme, it was imperative that the mansion included recycled components, composting, gray-water technology irrigation and solar panels. The indoors kept the earthy theme with a neutral color palette and very tasteful design.
