$195K: Just a Mere Airfare for New York Yankee Masahiro Tanaka

How could you imagine $195, 000 being spent just for an airfare to New York City? Just seeing the three zeroes and the dollar sign make your eyeballs pop out from their sockets. Well, not for the famous ace of New York Yankees who is none other than Masahiro Tanaka.

According to nypost.com:

New Yankee ace Masahiro Tanaka is already living the American dream — renting an entire Boeing 787 to fly from Japan with his pop-star wife, small pup and a couple of associates.

The pitcher dropped $195,000 for the one-way trip aboard a Japan Airlines Dreamliner jet, which fits up to 186 passengers.

Renting the plane that can accumulate 186 lads and gals, the the famous pitcher did enjoy a fancy flight just with a small group of people, his wife and colleagues, together with a dog. Having signed in a 155 million- dollar contract with Yankee that is valid within seven years, Tanaka andthe members of his entourage flew coolly from Japan to Big Apple, New York City.

The flight was chartered and was not prepared by the Yankee. This was confirmed by Tanaka before taking off from an airport in Japan. Also, the flight of Tanaka was not to make an expensive entrance to the country, rather, to arrive at “his best form,”said by a Japanese baseball official.

At a young age of 25, Tanaka had made a record of 24-0 record and a 1.27 ERA during the Japanese Season when he was still in Golden Eagle. That might be the reason why  Brian Cashman, Yankee’s GM, said that Tanaka could be a “solid number three starter.”
