China’s Luxury Five-Star Cave Hotel Opens In 2014

There are several hotels you can now go to and each one of them has a unique feature that stands out among the rest. How about a cave hotel? Are you now picturing a hotel with stalagmites and stalactites? We bet you do.

The hotel we are talking about is a five star property for the InterContinental hotel group. It is worth £345-million. The factor that makes it unique is the centerpiece which is quite unusual. With a 100-metre-high waterfall that will spill from the hotel roof down to an atrium on the ground floor and be seen from bedroom windows, we bet this will be amazing. Another interesting fact is that two of the hotel’s 19 storeys will be under water, allowing their patrons to look into the depths of the lake at the bottom of the 100-metre-deep-quarry. It will also house a restaurant and bedrooms. Of course, like any other hotels, It will cater a swimming pool and other facilities such as extreme sports,rock-climbing and bungee-jumping. Water sports will be also available on the lake.

According to Telegraph.co.uk,

The resort is based in the Songjiang district, near Shanghai. British design company Atkins is behind the build and intends to make the property as green as possible.

If you really want to get in touch with nature, you’ll be WOWed by the ecologically-sound roof covered in lawns and trees and the design will utilize the quarry’s geothermal heat to produce electricity and heating. From a walkway above the lake, guests will arrive at the complex via a naturally-lit atrium that the architects have said will incorporate the existing rock face, with the occasional waterfall and patches of vegetation.

According to Telegraph.co.uk,the hotel is expected to open in late 2014 at the earliest, with rooms costing around £200 a night. It is part of a larger project to build a Shimao Shanghai Wonderland theme park.

Final Thoughts

Hail to luxury hotels, maybe we should prepare our budget for 2014.
