The Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is one the finest retreats in Africa, located in Lake Manyara National Park, Tanzania, and is “the only permanent luxury lodge” in the area. It is known for the unique and elegant tree-house suites, built on stilts, and surrounded by an ancient and enchanting mahogany forest. The area is alive with wild and exotic animals; you won’t have to safari far at all!

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge offers ten intimate and romantic suites, housing up to twenty guests. The accommodations are luxurious and cozy. After a three hour drive through the park, you’ll reach the private encampment, secluded by the natural habitat of the forest. The houses are lofted high up in the trees, and each come with a private veranda and enormous windows, allowing you to enjoy the wonder and beauty of the African bush. Each suite also comes with a private butler, there to cater to any need or desire. Relax and unwind in the serene and balmy canopy, while hanging around in your suite, you’ll be surrounded by the leafy green top of the forest. The interiors are elegantly designed with natural wood, spacious rooms, and intricately thatched roofs, giving them a rustic, but modern feel. You’ll feel free while bathing in the open air lavatory. Enclosed only by a bamboo screen, this free standing tub offers breathtaking panoramic views of the forest.

You can also enjoy a sweeping view from the lofted pool. The Lake Manyara Tree Lodge brings the water to you, with a generous swimming pool and pool-side lounge at tree-house level. They stick with the natural theme, using local timber accents to complement the surrounding woodland. Here you’ll enjoy more than just sitting around a campfire for dinners and evening entertainment. They’ve erected beautiful structures for open-air dining and relaxing. If the delicious smells have wafted your way in the split-level lounging area, you can watch the food preparation in the open kitchen. You may be worried about the tree climbing lions of the area, but the whole camp is safely surrounded by a gnarly wood fence, tall enough to keep out the beasts.

Created to protect its magnificent elephant herds, Manyara National Park is equally famous for the unusual behavior of its tree-climbing lions as for the flocks of pink flamingos that inhabit the lake’s shores.”

The area is home to zounds of different animals, more than 400 various species of birds alone can be spotted here! You might also encounter a few buffalo, hippo, or graceful Maasai giraffe. Olive baboons are seen in dense packs here, with some in groups of 200. You may also get a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse at the spectacular courtship dance of the gray crowned crane, and that’s just at the lodge!

Game drives are a daily occurrence at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge. Since the park is so isolated, and far from the entrance, you’ll only be exploring areas of the park unaccessible to day visitors, and probably won’t be disturbed by other people. The drives are lead by a guide and tracker team. The vehicle – an open 4×4, with only a screen. You’ll be spared from the sun without any loss of view, allowing for great pictures and a close-up adventure. At dawn, you’ll be roused from sleep to see the morning break and the wilderness come to life. Provided is a hot drink and a snack, before coming back for breakfast. After lunch, when the evening cool sets in, its time for another safari. Watch the herds drink and bathe at the lake and the sun set over the bush. There are other tours offered, including an exclusive nighttime safari, to view nocturnal Africa in action.

You might be familiar with the Royal Westmoreland property located in Barbados. The gated estate was featured in trailers for the upcoming season of Made in Chelsea, and popular television series. The former farmer, John, is selling this lush and luxurious piece of land for a mere $112 million.

The estate features 225 properties, including quaint cottages and regal colonial houses. The Royal Westmoreland is home to many athletes and celebrities, including Wayne Rooney and Michael Vaughn. The world’s top executives also flock toward Westmoreland when looking for a place to call home. Some just use this estate as a luxury holiday hot spot. The paradise setting and lush tropical surroundings are serene and calming.

Royal Westmoreland also boasts as an award-winning golf resort. The championship course is on 7045 lush tropical acres. The par 72 course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and is constantly one of the highest ranking courses in the Caribbean. The greens boast ocean views, an audience of local monkeys, and a luxurious halfway house. Located in St. James parish of Barbados, the estate is only ten minutes from the gorgeous coast.

The estate sits on 750 acres of beautiful landscaped, tropical property. Plans for further expansion are in order, as well as another world-class golf course and a hotel. Guests and owners at the estate have access to an exclusive and private, white sand beach. Though it is only 3k away, the Royal Westmoreland offers a shuttle service for guests to reach Mullins Bay Beach. The pristine area offers wonderful snorkeling opportunities, as the water is teeming with tropical fish. The beach also supports oceanic turtle life, an exclusive treat of this beach. The Beach Club houses the Mullins Beach Bar, where guests can relax, grab food or a drink, and watch the waves roll in.

If you’re in the mood for a little (or a lot) of indulgence, hop over to the Indulgence Spa. Its only a short walk off the beach. Aside from being a licensed retailer of Elemis beauty products, the high-class spa offers state-of-the-art beauty and relaxation therapies in the form of massages, wraps and facials. The extensive treatment menu is sure to have something to take you away to the ultimate paradise, by the hands of experienced professionals. You can take a dip in the outdoor pool, or get a workout in the newly added gym, fully equipped with professional equipment including Nordic track machines and a hoist V6 personal pulley gym.

After all that fun and relaxation, food is in order. Guests and owners who wish to eat at home, but do not wish to exhaust themselves with cooking, can contact the Concierge. From there, they will arrange a chef to prepare a home cooked meal, made to order – whatever you’re craving. Perhaps you’d rather whip together an all-star meal yourself. The ingredients can be brought fresh to your door. The Concierge can also get owners and guests a reservation at any of the fine establishments throughout the island. The local Bajan cuisine is influenced by flairs from Britain, Spain, Portugal, and West Africa, making for exotic and mouthwatering tastes you won’t find elsewhere. Restaurants include The Cliff, Cin Cin by the Sea (traditional island cuisine), Rum Shak Bar and BBQ, Daphne’s, Lone Star, and Tides Restaurant.

Morphet originally bought the property in 2004 after visiting the Royal Westmoreland in Barbados on holiday himself. Now you have the chance to grab this lucrative luxury estate for a steal. You can read more about this story over at World Property Journal. If you’re just thinking about booking a trip to the tropical paradise, or maybe want to purchase one of the luxury homes, you can visit the Royal Westmoreland website. Leo DiCaprio is Making Waves with Eco-Resort https://www.theluxurypost.com/luxury-property/luxury-houses-2/leo-dicaprio-is-making-waves-with-eco-resort/2015/04/06/043404 Sun, 05 Apr 2015 20:34:04 +0000 https://www.theluxurypost.com/?p=4672 Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is taking on a new role. Not as an action hero or a criminal with swagger, but as an environmental activist. This isn’t a leading role in a new movie, this is in real life! Leo has always had a soft spot for mother nature, and has been doing his bit to help for a while. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation donates millions to protect Earth and its wildlife. Leo is also one of the top leaders for the WWF. Now Leo has decided to step it up by building a multi-million dollar resort.

Not just any multi-million dollar resort, though. This pricey place will be an eco-tourist paradise. The focus of this project is to transform an island, located 45 minutes off the coast of Belize by boat, into a healthy, habitable home for the native wildlife, as well as an environmentally friendly human attraction.

The accomplished scuba diver and actor has starred in some of the biggest films of all time. You might recognize him from Titanic, Catch Me If You Can, Inception, and The Wolf on Wall Street. DiCaprio, along with Owner of Cayo Espanto Resort Island, Jeff Gram, found and bought the island property nearly a decade ago. The Blackadore Caye cost them about $1.75 million for 104 gorgeous acres. Leo fell in love with the country, and told The New York Times,

It was like heaven on earth, and almost immediately, I found this opportunity to purchase an island there.”

DiCaprio has partnered with Paul Scialla, founder and CEO of Delos, for the development of the eco-resort. It took him ten years to find a partner with the same environmental visions. Delos is a New York firm that strives to create buildings and spaces that promote human health and wellbeing. Their innovative solutions are also built with the well-being of the environment in mind. A harmonious match for what DiCaprio hopes to achieve. Previous designs from Delos are sleek, green, luxurious, and tranquility-inspiring, but DiCaprio’s plans are another level. He’s got an exclusive resort in mind with infinity pools and lavish villas for only the wealthiest of travelers.

DiCaprio speaks at UN Climate Summit 2014

DiCaprio speaks at UN Climate Summit 2014

The eco-resort’s blueprint for “Blackadore Caye a Restorative Island” depicts the lavish and luxurious villas resting on a platform to protect villas from the waves and preserve the artificial reefs hosting marine life. The platform also makes for an indulgent breezeway – it’s structure designed to harness the ocean breeze for villa cooling purposes. There’s more to the restoration part of this project. Mangroves will be replanted in the area, and DiCaprio is also growing marine grass to help with manatee conservation. The resort is an answer to the damage done to the environment by deforestation, overfishing, and an eroding coast.

The focus is to do something that will change the world. I couldn’t have gone to Belize and built on an island and done something like this if it weren’t for the idea it could be groundbreaking in the environmental movement.” – Leonardo DiCaprio

Blackadore Caye will house 68 guest villas. All guests will have access to the gorgeous grassland, wild jungle, and almost a mile of a beautiful private beach. People, who fall in love with the island like Leonardo DiCaprio, will have the opportunity to live on the island in one of the 48 houses that will be built. For a monthly fee, residents can receive some luxury services, such as housekeeping and meals. DiCaprio says some of the homes even offer views of both sunrise and sunset each day. You can snag one of these homes in paradise for $5 million or up to $15 million.

The villas and homes will contain the environmentally-friendly luxury amenities that are signature of Delos developments. LED circadian lighting is one such amenity. This state-of-the-art, controllable lighting system helps dwellers stay alert during the day, and have an optimal sleep at night. Guests will only have the highest quality air and water with the advanced purification systems installed. All the buildings will use only safe and healthy materials. Guests will have to go through and ecology orientation to enjoy the luxuries of Blackadore Caye, though. They’ll be expected to follow strict guidelines, like no plastic water bottles, to preserve the space of both guests and nature. A little price to pay for such pristine beauty.

The resort is destined to open their doors sometime in 2018. Until then, we can expect DiCaprio to hold up his reputation as a defender of the environment. You can also look forward to his documentaries on the environment coming to Netflix. After being appointed as Climate Change Envoy by the UN last year, DiCaprio has worked hard to produce hard hitting, educational, and entertaining media on the topic.Visit the Delos page to see their previous projects and find out more information. Do you think of Leonardo DiCaprio as an environmentalist? Would you stay at this resort? What do you think about the whole “green movement”? It is not uncommon to find luxury antiques getting restored, luxury items getting a second lease on life at auctions and homes being flipped to create grandeur. But a jumbo jet being turned into a luxury hotel suite? Now that’s new.

According to dailymail.co.uk:

The £300-a-night plane hotel suite is perched on a purpose built ledge within the Costa Rican rainforest and offers flight fans the chance to play captain for their stay. For a staggering £2,100 a week guests can enjoy the novelty of sleeping in the converted 1965 Boeing 727, which once carried passengers around the world with Colombian Avianca Airlines.

The suite can be found in Costa Verde Resort, The suite is part of the Costa Verde resort, which is located on the edge of the Manuel Antonia National Park, Costa Rica. Reports says that the plane hotel suite charges as much as The Ritz, London. The inclusions of the luxury plane hotel suite? Take a look:

  • two-bedrooms
  • two-bathrooms
  • a kitchenette
  • flat-screen tvs
  • dining room
  • terrace with a sea view
  • observation deck (on top of the plane’s wing)

Now who would want to try this bespoke suite? Well, the reservations are probably filling up quickly. Luxury is all about exclusivity and unique experiences, after all.

$1 Million year-long luxury travel package while working as a researcher —- can it still be called work if it’s fun? https://www.theluxurypost.com/general-news/1-million-year-long-luxury-travel-package-while-working-as-a-researcher-can-it-still-be-called-work-if-its-fun/2014/03/14/001720 Thu, 13 Mar 2014 16:17:20 +0000 https://www.theluxurypost.com/?p=3703

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. But what if work meant travelling around the world to test the finer things in life, would that still be work? A luxury travel company called Luxury Travel Intelligence (LTI) has recently come up with a $1 million year-long travel package for the researcher who is going to be hired to review different properties and luxury offers.

According to huffingtonpost.ca:

Unlike VeryFirstTo.com’s other offers which cater to a fraction of the population with the means to pony up $99,300 for a Valentine’s Day dinner and $38,500 for a Christmas pudding, this latest package is an extravagant, all-expenses-paid trip that includes stays in some of the newest and most exclusive hotels in Buenos Aires, Venice, Las Vegas and the Maldives.

The only catch? It won’t all be frolicking on tropical beaches and champagne-soaked fine dining meals. Not all the time anyway. Because the winning candidate will serve as a researcher for VeryFirstTo’s partner Luxury Travel Intelligence (LTI), providing reviews and updates on the latest innovations and services at the properties.

Although the luxury trip is open to all adults all over the globe, the applicant who qualifies gets it for free. According to the organizers, the very special researcher has to be ” discreet, discerning, eloquent, sociable,” and have “considerable travel passion, knowledge and experience, and a fine appreciation of food, culture and entertainment.”

The $1 million trip begins this summer but the applications for the post of researcher will only be open until the end of April. Some of the places listed for the year-long trip are:

Venice: Aman, Gritti Palace, Necker Island
Buenos Aires: Four Seasons
Miami: Metropolitan by Como, Fisher Island Club, Roberto Cavalli Restaurant
Las Vegas: Hakkasan, Fizz
Maldives: Velaa Private Island
Ski resorts like W Hotel in Verbier, L’Apogée in Courchevel, and The Chedi in Andermatt
