A true work of an artist: Andy Warhol’s Painting Sold for £362,500
Andy Warhol’s painting was sold for £362,500. But what’s more interesting story behind the Andy Warhol painting that was sold by Jade Jagger. Jade Jagger is the daughter of Bianca and the legendary singer Mick Jagger.
According to express.uk.com:
The legendary artist gifted the piece to Jade in 1981, when she was only 10 years old. Warhol used to babysit for her at his New York City studio when she was young and handed her the painting following her parent’s divorce.
Jade received a great masterpiece from an iconic artist, who happened to be Andy Warhol, when she was just 10 years old? Yes, you read that right.
Traveling back through time to 32 years ago, Jade was the honorary daughter of Andy while working on his studio in New York. The former commemorated, “until my early teens I lived with my mother in New York and I spent a lot of time in the company of her friends, mostly artists and designers, such as Andy Warhol, Ross Bleckner and Francesco Clemente, none of whom had kids, so I was like their shared child.”
It was no doubt for Jade receiving such a gift. Now, Jade decided to part ways with her 10in x 8in canvass at Sotheby’s auction house in London on 13th of February. The paint features pink, red and gold dollar signs made in acrylic and silk-screen ink.
